BB10m FAMILY RACER
NATIONAL ONE DESIGN CLASS

The BB10m is a 4-man sailing boat, which is used both for racing and for cruising. It is extremely easy to sail, but due to its racing properties it is mostly sailed by crews who like to race.

Many crews consider the boat as the finest sailing boat which has ever been built, and people from the age of 16 to about 70 years can easily handle the boat.

The BB10m is being built by the world famous Børresens Bådebyggeri in Vejle, Denmark and was designed and constructed by Børge Børresen and his son Anders Børresen in 1977. On January 19, 1991, Dansk Sejlunion approved the BB10m boat as a National One Design Class. This means that every boats with a one design certificate must obey strict class rules. The aim is of course to secure that everyone can compete on equal terms. The first BB10m was launched in 1977 and the boat is still being built today.

BB10m boats participate in most regattas all over Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, etc. and it is often a BB10m which wins - not only in its own race, but overall. Open Danish Championships in the class have been held every year for more than 25 years. These regattas have attracted many of the best sailors, but the great diversity in the class ensures that typically nothing is settled before the last of the races. As will be clear from the list of Danmarksmestre (Danish Champions) over the years, it is in fact rare that the same skipper has won two years in a row.

A nice and fair sportsmanship is always prevailing during the races. It is, for example, seldom that it is necessary to make use of the protest committee during the Danish Championships. There is also an excellent friendship among the different crew members. It is always possible to get a good advice and a helping hand if you have a problem with the boat or with the trim. This ensures high spirits ashore as well as on the water.
