The regatta was very successful with 8 exciting races over 3 days. After 6 races DEN-42 was in the lead with 11.4 points against the 24.7 points of DEN-33 and DEN-5. Based on the very superior performance which DEN-42 had shown in these 6 races everybody expected that the Championship would be secured after the races on Saturday. But as often happens in the BB10m Class, nothing was final until after the last race was finished. Unfortunately, DEN-42 had bad luck since the races on Saturday did not perform as they had hoped. A 5th and a 10th place meant that they ended as no. 4 in the final score.  DEN-5 had more luck since a 3rd and a 1st place secured that again this year they became the Danish Champions. 

CONGRATULATIONS TO DEN-5.

Just like last year, DEN-33 became 2nd only tiny 0.3 points after DEN-5. The 3rd place was taken by the strong 'veteran' team from Skive, DEN-67. 

Also ashore, the regatta was a big success since everything was well arranged with both breakfast and lunch packages to the crews. Thursday evening a barbecue party was held with excellent guitar music accompanying the food. And finally, Saturday evening an excellent party including prices to the winners and dance and live music until almost dawn. It was great pleasure to see that so many of the participants had brought their families to the regatta. This resulted in lots of activities on the camp ground with children and girl friends as engaged supporters to the hard working crews on the water. 

In summary a very successful Championship and lots of congratulations to S.Y.C. (especially to Palle and Claus), the referees and all the helpers on the water and ashore. 

Final result

Wednesday August 1:

The day was used to measure the new sails (Niels from DEN-53 had been trusted this very important work) and to check the mandatory equipment in the boats (this check was performed by an independent person from S.Y.C.). After some training on the waters in the afternoon in a nice strong wind it was time to open the regatta and this took place at Sønderborg castle with speeches from the Mayor of Sønderborg, the regatta supervisor Palle and the president of the BB10m Association, Claus. Before that we were all welcomed by trumpeters and readings from persons in historical clothes.

Thursday August 2:

The first 2 races were carried out in very light (2-4 m/s) and unstable wind from different directions, Southeast turning to East. In the 3rd race the wind was stronger (5-6 m/s) from a Southeast direction. Already in the first race a protest was issued from DEN-53 against DEN-5 for touching of the 1. mark. After a long voting in the protest committee DEN-5 was disqualified for not having corrected the error after touching the mark.

Friday August 3:

The day started with rain and a very strong wind from Southeast. Since decreasing wind speed was expected later of the day  it was decided to postpone the first race with one hour (from 9:30 to 10:30). Half an hour before the first start, the wind was now so light that the majority of the boats changed from jib to Genoa probably because of the relatively high waves which were still present. The races were carried out in a relatively moderate wind (6-9 m/s and a little more in a strong rain storm which passed over the race in the third race) first from Southeast but later it turned to Southwest. When the boats after the 3rd race were sailing to the starting area in order to begin the 4th and last race this day the wind suddenly increased to gale strength from Southwest. After a postponement and 2 starts that were called back it was decided by the referees to give up more races this day since the wind now had increased to about 14-16 m/s (and in between some more). Unfortunately, DEN-37 brook its boom just outside the harbor when they were occupied with reducing the main sail. Therefore, this boat did not sail the two races the last day. At a mark round in the 5^th race a collision between DEN-48 and DEN-19 and DEN-87 unfortunately gave some damages on the boats. This resulted in a protest from DEN-19 against DEN-48, and DEN-48 was subsequently disqualified.

Saturday August 4:

On the last day of the regatta a light to strong wind from Southwest which varied in strength and direction during the day was prevailing.  A strong thunder storm on the last windward leg in the last race gave on top of that a lot of rain and a relative strong wind.
